Best ATV Experiences in Bali

Where the trails actually are, what separates a good operator from a bad one, and what a ride really costs.

Best ATV Experiences in Bali

Most ATV riding in Bali happens in a belt of farmland north and west of Ubud, plus a smaller coastal cluster behind Canggu. The inland routes are the more interesting ride: narrow tracks between working rice terraces, shallow river crossings, and in a few cases a hand-cut tunnel through a hillside.

What separates operators

The machines matter less than the trail and the guide ratio. A good operator runs one guide per four or five riders, briefs properly, and gives you a practice loop before the real route. A poor one puts fifteen riders behind a single guide and rushes the briefing.

What it costs

Expect IDR 300,000 to 500,000 per person for a two- to three-hour ride, with tandem riding cheaper per head than a solo quad. Anything far below that usually means older machines or a very short route.

When to go

Morning slots are cooler and the tracks are firmer. After heavy overnight rain the trails get genuinely muddy — fun, but bring a full change of clothes and do not wear anything you care about.

Practical notes

No licence is needed, weight limits are usually around 120 kg per quad, and most operators set a minimum age of 12 for solo riding and 6 for tandem. A refundable damage deposit on arrival is standard practice, not a scam.
